Meeting A Test of Will :: The Wburg.tv Reviews Begin

One of the things I love about vlogging and blogging is how it brings folks of like interest (if not like mind) more easily together.

Like how, having been away from Williamsburg for three years (priced out), I "meet" Will, a Wburg photographer who's photo-blogging Wburg's radically changing cityscape.

Including Wburg.tv.

Couldn't be happier that - while Will characterizes our wee screen as having "Times Squared" the corner - he's not used a heavier blunt descriptive instrument.

As folks get to know us - and the mini jumbotron plasma screen at the corner of Bedford Avenue and North 7th Street - I think they'll find us all pretty damned okay.

If it's NOT okay, get your own stuff or the stuff of somebody you admire up there on the screen. I'm an email, an AIM, a Skype, or a phone call away.

Who is the Faux Press?

The Faux Press was an early adopter of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In 1995, the street tax was high, hookers regularly made themselves at home on my stoop to shoot up, and at least one car a week was stripped and eventually burned in front of our loft. The nearby chop shop did a brisk business.

The air was rife with windblown garbage, the asphalt replete with dog poop, condoms, glass, and crack vials.

Those who lived in Williamsburg then made the neighborhood bearable with street art and performance, with our bravery. We added beauty and vitality to a neighborhood whose businesses closed their doors not at a given time, but at dusk, out of fear for their lives.

Was priced out in 2004 when Wburg got hip.

My heart's there and I must return.

Need an apartment and sustenance.

Perhaps you have some ideas to help bring me back to the Burg.

Leave a comment or email me at jannie.jan@gmail.com if you've inspiration.

Community Supported Agriculture in Williamsburg has a blog. This photograph is from one of Wburg CSA's members, stephiblu, who's collected an amazing bunch of photographs of the food from "their farmer".

Know your food. Know your farmer.

Here's a link to Williamsburg's farmer of choice, Garden of Eve.

POST NOTE FROM THE FAUX PRESS: Jose appears in a cameo role in our most recent vlogvertising effort for Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate (editing comes along nicely, by the way). He's the tech guy behind the counter at Champion Wireless. He knows phones inside and out. I can tell just by the way he handles 'em.

The Faux Press represents at a Vlog-holiday called "Super Happy Vlog House," celebrated April 1 2007 around the world.

Not in person, but via image with its Faux Press Pass that hangs in the Digital Dojo of Ojai. The Digital Dojo is a division of Node 101 - a loosely-held, international group of media makers committed to media literacy.

The Faux Press is one of our intrepid Wburg.tv reporters and is Road Node 101, among other things.

Grand Relax Girls

Grand Relax girls.

Nothing like a buck-a-minute chair massage to transform a stressful day right back to perfect.

The day I shot my first ever vlogvertising commercial for The Lodge restaurant (right down the street @ Havemeyer) I went there (at Bi-Offal's suggestion) with composer Andrew Shapiro for a ten-minute attitude adjustment.

Andrew was tense 'cause I'd interviewed him. There's no doubt that interviews are stressful, even if it's with the Faux Press. I was tense with excitement from the bump up to official commercial vlogger.

The women are professional and sweet.

Aaaah.
